For a long time, I was someone who made things mostly for myself.
I went to school for design. I filled sketchbooks. I built a career developing products for other people and other brands. And somewhere along the way, I got very good at being creative within the lines.
JUNE&PEARL came from wanting to color outside of them again.
As I got closer to 40, I started thinking a lot about all the ideas I had carried around with me, the things I wanted to make someday. And I realized I didn’t want my creativity to live only in sketchbooks, or in the work I made for someone else.
I wanted to see what would happen if I actually followed one of those ideas all the way through.
So I started with jewelry.
Not because the world needed more jewelry, but because I’ve always believed the right piece can do something to you. It can make a white T-shirt feel like an outfit. It can make someone across the room think, she’s so cool. It can become one of those things that feels so distinctly yours that people start associating it with you.
That’s what I want JUNE&PEARL to be.
Pieces that are a little unexpected. Beautiful, but never too precious. Things with personality. Things worth noticing. Things you won’t see everywhere.
